UPDATE WRITERS MONUMENT 2022

On March 12, 2023, our cinematic monument to the murdered writers and journalists was shown in the 'Spuitheater’ in The Hague during the Writers Unlimited festival. 2022 was another regrettable year. Sixty writers and journalists were murdered in the course of their profession. These are murders recorded by PEN International London and CPJ New York. Theater of Wrong Decisions knows all too well that many also died without this becoming known to the world.

UITNODIGING "BLINDED BY THE LIGHT"

SHARING THE KNOWLEDGE

On March 11, ToWD presented several guest lectures and workshops at the department of Film and Television Cultures of the University of Utrecht. The interaction with students was inspiring and intense. The situation in the world and its future were discussed with passion and courage. The films and images that the students produced during the day, were surprisingly creative. The questions we raised, were lifted to a higher level.

BLINDED BY THE LIGHT

M.m.v. Jorg Schellekens, Suzanne Groothuis, Korzo,
David Schoch, Adesign, Jorick Mulder, Jeroen Meijer,
Gijs Huizinga, Eric de Vries, Uitgeverij de Bovenkamer
en PIP.

WHY DOES THE WIND WAIL AT WALLS?

Theatre of Wrong Decisions has inspired three American artists: Andrew Bateman, Quinton Gonzalez and Craig Volk to collectively use our concept. Europe is celebrating in 2019 the joyful occasion that the Iron Curtain fell 30 years ago. Yet, President Trump is erecting a new wall between Mexico and the US.

Look at all our walls: Cyprus, Korea, Bulgaria, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Ceuta. The wall on Palestinian territory built by Israel was sentenced as illegal by the International Court of Justice.

Walls do not solve anything… they impoverish states, deny the desperate, and ignore digital reality.

Trump wants America to be great again, but how small and isolated will it become?

E-Witness aimed to revisit and reflect on the role of women in war. http://www.quartair.nl/e-witness.htm

«When looking at the role of women in history we often see women working on the background; widows, orphans, but also victims of (sexual) violence. From the rape of the Sabine women, the Korean and Indonesian ‘comfort women’, the kidnapped schoolgirls of Boko Haram, to the IS women. But women also have been fighters and heroes; at times they might also be instrumental in perpetuating war»

ToWD installation was about kidnapping women in the war and the aftereffects: a one minute film about the kidnappings of Boko Haram was presented.

SHAKESPEARE UNEXPECTED FESTIVAL

Date: 19-22 april 2018

Location: The Royal Theatre, The Hague, The Netherlands

Theatre of Wrong Decisions participated in the The Hague Shakespeare Festival with a video installation.

Central item during The Hague Shakespeare Festival - Shakespeare Unexpected - was the story of war veteran Stephan Wolfert. He interweaves his own story of reintegrating after military service and suffering PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) with Shakespeare's timeless verse.

Wolfert suggests that the military "wires" young recruits for war at a psychologically malleable age, but neglects to re-wire them for their return to society.

The texts used in the play on stage were also used in the film installation of Theatre of Wrong Decisions.
